New York Conference
Dr. Alicia Collins Dennis
President

Dr. Alicia Collins-Dennis is a native of Buffalo, New York, and is a fourth generation AME.  She was baptized in Bethel AME Church Buffalo, NY. For over 40 years, Dr. Dennis had the pleasure of following her mother the late Rev. Carrie Nobles an Itinerant Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church on the missionary field where she pastored in: Western New York, Philadelphia and New York.
A preacher’s kid, or as some refer to as a child of the parsonage, she has lived in several different places. She credits her Mother Carrie for leading her to Christ and always reminding her to always pray. Her Mother Carrie empowered her to serve the church and always encouraged her to have a humble spirit.

Dr. Dennis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Central State University, she earned a Master of Public Administration from Ohio University, and an earned Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Dennis currently serves as the New York Conference Lay President. Dr. Dennis is a member of Bethel AME Church in Copiague, NY, where the Rev. Dr. Keith Hayward is the Pastor. In Bethel, Dr. Dennis is the President of Anita Davis Lay Organization, a member of the Board of Stewards, and a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. She is also a member of the General Board of the AME Church. Dr. Dennis is also the President of the Sisters of the Arts (SOTA) Nassau, Suffolk and Queens (NSQ) Chapter of the Society Incorporated.

Dr. Dennis has worked in higher education for over 20 years, and is very active in her local school district’s PTA. She is an avid book reader and affectionately refers to herself as a “Book junkie.” She is married to Reginald and is the proud mother of two daughters, Caitlyn and Allison.

Dr. Dennis lives by Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
